| Why are cover songs so much fun? Sure, everyone likes to sing along to Gloria Gaynor proclaiming her autonomy in the epic "I Will Survive" - but it's so much better when it's the guys from Cake rocking out in her place... This swap is an opportunity to put all your favorite cover songs on a CD and swap them out for some you may have never heard or had no clue exsisted. Ever heard Bob Dylan covered by a Mexican garage band? Have a soft spot from Johnny Cash's cover of "I Wont Back Down" (with Tom Petty singing back up)? Or your favorite local band doing a lounge version of "Tainted Love"... Each participant will swap a CD of their favorite cover songs with two other people (so be prepared to burn and mail two separate copies of your mix). It can be themed around a topic (cheatin' songs, songs about chickens) or around a band (all covers of The Ramones)or it could be a collection of your favorite cover songs, period. A great resource for locating cover songs can be found at: http://coversproject.com/ Start with a minimum of 10 songs and the rest is up to you. Happy swapping & rock on! | |
