| I fell in love with writing 100-word stories, thanks to an inspiring English teacher in high school. I thought it could be a fun swap.
PROMPT: Being at the wrong place at the wrong time THAT'S ALL! Feel free to keep reading below to learn how 100-word stories rose to popularity (OPTIONAL READING FROM THIS POINT ON): I was surprised to learn that the popularity of 100-word stories only emerged within the past decade. Grant Faulkner, the executive director of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), played a pivotal role in popularizing the 100-word story. Inspired by Paul Strohm's tales in "Eleven Eleven" Magazine, Faulkner created a magazine named "100-Word Story, which publishes--you guessed it--100-word stories. His approach aligns with Walter Benjamin's philosophy: "keep a story free from an explanation." I would love to keep doing these swaps, so maybe if we get enough practice, then we could submit some to his magazine! (Submissions are open from Dec 1-8 if you want to get a head start!) PS This is my first swap, so if you have any suggestions, then feel free to reach out. | |
