Leap Day / February 29th handmde postcard

I’ve never done it, but have read that one can go to the PO & ask for a postcard or letter to be hand cancelled that day? Anyone know?or, is hand cancelling different from postmarking on a particular? Maybe I’ll see what I can find on usps or just ask at the PO

They do have hand stamps at some windows here, once I had an official document and the receipt hand stamped with the date but never a crafted item. Please share your experience if you do.

I just wanted to let you know that in order for the postcard to be cancelled on the 29th I will need to post it on the 29th. The reason for this is because I am posting abroad I need to weigh it in the post office ( I also get proof of postage ). If I take it in to be put in post box on the 28th it will get cancelled on the 28th. I know the swap date is the 28th so I just wanted to let you know. Obviously I can post on 28th if required but it won’t have the 29th as the date on it. I have let my partner know.

Here in South Korea, I have the same situation as UKrebel85. The postman usually stamps it right in front of me on that same day, and I take a photo for records.

So my postmark will have the day I go to the post office written on it. But I might be able to be sneaky and do it on the 29th Korean time, because the Swap Bot time zone is California I think, which is 17 hours behind Seoul.

So I will still meet the 28th Swap Bot deadline. But if not possible, then we'll if will have to say the 28th.

Also, we technically don't have mail boxes in Korea. International outgoing mail just all be done at the post office.

My PO is going to hand cancel mine tomorrow. So I'm marking mine sent but I'll take it to work with me in the morning (I'm a mail carrier).

I took mine to the PO & asked to have it hand stamped. The employee did it right there in front of me. . I didn’t need the non-machinable postage stamp after all. Good to know for future reference.
