Kawaii is an asian word that means "cute", in essence...

Most often when you see Kawaii (anything) swaps, it's for cute Asian brand items....though sometimes they allow "kawaii" items from other countries (I know, it seems a bit off, but it's a different style from country to country).

Yes, Hello Kitty is definitely an example of Kawaii...one of the more well known.
